Andy Musser is the very first contributor to the Picture Book Sounds music blog! Andy and I met at the 2013 SCBWI conference where his illustration portfolio received one of five Mentorship Awards. Thanks for sharing your music and illustrations Andy!
Here's the soundtrack to the picture books I've been working on lately, an eclectic mix of music that I've been jamming in my studio. I hope you enjoy!
Track 1: Cayucos by Cayucas
This summery jam makes me want to immediately go out and catch some waves, it also makes me completely forget that I have no idea how to surf.
Track 2: Malerina by Shugo Tokumaru
Tokumaru's whimsical melodies and unusual instrumentation feel to me like the soundtrack to a child's imagination, I enjoy listening to his music when I'm sketching and brainstorming.
Track 3: I Wonder Where My Baby is Tonight by Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli
I love listening to these guys when I'm drawing and painting, you can tell they were having a blast when they recored this song.
Track 4: Popsicles by Rachel Goodrich
This is another summery jam…probably a side effect of living in the overcast Pacific Northwest! I dig the evocative imagery and daydreamy feel, a great place to end an imaginary surfing trip.
